Residents of ‘Atir and Umm al-Hiran and Supporters will March against the Demolition of their Villages on Thursday, March 3rd
Following the latest decision of the Israeli Supreme Court regarding the Bedouin unrecognized villages of ‘Atir and Umm al-Hiran, rejecting the residents’ request for extended tribunal to discuss their case, the popular committee of the villages will hold a demonstration in the city of Be’er Sheva – demanding to stay in their place.
The meaning of the rejection is that both villages are in immediate threat of eviction and demolition. Tractors have already started working near the houses of Umm al-Hiran, building the new Jewish town of Hiran that is planned on top of the village. The village of ‘Atir is supposed to become part of the Yatir Forest, a JNF-KKL forest near the village.
The demonstration will take place on Thursday, March 3rd, at 10:45. The rally will start from the Be’er Sheva city market, towards the Be’er Sheva Courthouse where a demonstration will be held at 11:30.
