 Negev, Saturday 15th January
A new government policy has recently come into play of destroying entire villages in the Negev. As part of this policy, the villagers of ‘Al-Sdeir’ have received demolition orders for 50 buildings belonging to the Abu Gamde (Al-Ranami) families – constituting virtually every house in the village. The village Al-Sdeir, which is not recognized by the Israeli authorities, is near the south-west side of the Nevatim air base, 6 km west of the town of Arara in the Negev.

On Saturday 15th January, we will plant 200 trees around the village as a sign of solidarity, hope and co-existence between Jews and Arabs in the Negev.
Transportation will be leaving Tel-Aviv at 8:45 from ‘Arlozerov’ train station (El-Al terminal), and from Beit Kama junction (near the gas station) at 10:00 (please contact Yaacov Manor: 050-5733276). For the southerners among us – 10:30 at Tsomet Sara.
After planting the tress, we will gather to hear some personal accounts of the difficulties that the southern Arabs (Bedouins) in the unrecognized villages are currently facing. Forum Hakara is a coalition of organizations that are working towards the equality of civil rights and co-existence in the Negev. The forum consists of the Council of Forty, the Israel Committee Against Housing Demolitions, Rabbis for Human Rights, The Negev Coexistence Forum and Ta’ayush. You can donate a tree! Each sapling costs 10 shekels
